Alberta Foundation for the Arts – Grant Writing Tips

I came across two documents on the AFA website.

This first is Music Grant Writing 101, which contains a number of lists, checkpoints and questions that all grant writers should address in their proposals. It also has a list of reasons why proposals are turned down.

The second document is a tip sheet with specific ways you can maximize your application’s potential. Briefly, the six points are:

  • Contact the consultant
  • Presentation matters
  • Balance your budget
  • Tell the jury what they need to know
  • Choose your support materials carefully
  • Expect nothing

For more information on maximizing your application’s potential, be sure to check out my Guide to Increasing Your Success Rate, and the Canada Council’s brochure on preparing grant applications.

All of this information and more can be found under my Grant Writing Guide.
